Jean Hodges

National news editor

Jean oversees operations for the news service, puts out a daily national budget and communicates with GateHouse editors to keep content coming in to the news service, and to get feedback from editors to make sure the news service is serving their needs.

Before joining GateHouse, Jean worked as an AME for news and projects editor at the Daily Southtown in Chicago. She’s also worked at the Killeen (Texas) Daily Herald, the Ely (England) Standard, and the Clovis (N.M.) News Journal, where she got her start as a reporter. She has won several state and national awards as project editor for investigative projects, and for news reporting and page design.

Michael Toeset

Michael handles posting to the news service, composes several rails, national or regional budgets as needed, is in charge of the Sudoku offerings and is coordinating the GHNS wall calendar program.

Before joining the GateHouse team, Michael worked at the Daily Southtown in Chicago. As night copy desk chief, he led the daily production of the newspaper and was involved in page designing, editing, headline writing and more. Previously, Toeset worked in Midwest Suburban Publishing's Niche Publications department, where he served as editor of special sections and helped launch several monthly magazines, including the award-winning Elite magazine. He has won numerous awards for headlines and design.

Kathryn Anderson

Kathryn is the copy editor for GateHouse News Service. Katie edits and post stories, cartoons and photos submitted to the news service. In addition to uploading content to the news service, she helps maintain consistency and organization across the site.

After graduating from Syracuse University's S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications, Anderson worked as a copy editor and designer at The Daily Star in Oneonta, N.Y., and the Observer-Dispatch in Utica, N.Y. In addition to several headline and design awards, she has assisted in the creation of two books produced by Syracuse University's student-run newspaper.

Christopher Biondi

New England regional editor

Christopher oversees the sharing of content for GateHouse New England newspapers; helps plan and lead training sessions, including News Now, which focuses on strategies to improve Web site traffic and the use of alternative story formats in print; helps coordinate the use of GateHouse niche content in New England.

Before being named New England regional editor, Christopher was managing editor of the MetroWest Daily News in the Boston suburbs. He has been in the news business for 20 years, beginning at his hometown (Kennett Square, Pa.) weekly. At the MetroWest Daily News, he managed a central copy desk that produces seven editions of four daily papers. Most recently he helped lead the transition bringing Web operations into the newsroom, posting more breaking news and multimedia, including video.

Casey Laughman

Casey oversees news service regional content in Illinois, sharing and planning for GateHouse Illinois newspapers. He is also coordinating a News Now training program in Illinois, which focuses on strategies to improve Web site traffic and the use of alternative story formats in print.

Before joining GateHouse, Casey spent nine years at The Associated Press in Columbus, Ohio, where he reported and edited on a wide range of stories, from federal trials to LeBron James' last high school basketball game. In addition to writing and editing, he wrote broadcast copy, designed Web sites and worked on multimedia projects, including podcasts and slideshows. He also contributed regularly to asap, a pilot project for the AP that focused on creative storytelling in new media formats.

Robert Matson

New York regional editor

Robert coordinates efforts to build a New York report for the news service with the help of the eight daily newspapers and the more than one dozen weekly newspapers in the state owned by GateHouse.

He is also executive editor of Messenger Post Media in Canandaigua, N.Y., which includes the Daily Messenger and 11 newspapers in suburban Rochester. The Daily Messenger was selected best small newspaper in New York state two of the last four years by The Associated Press, and the weekly papers have garnered reams of state and national awards. Matson is also an award-winning writer and columnist for the daily, and serves as publisher of a niche publication devoted to senior citizens in the Rochester area.

Lauren communicates to GateHouse publications about Niche products, gathers feedback about those products and manages the production schedule for new and existing products, in addition to content planning for special sections and products.

She began her journalism career at the Post Tribune in Merrillville, Ind., as a designer on the night news desk. She moved to the Chicago suburban group owned by GateHouse Media before being hired as Niche general manager for the news service. She has won several awards through GateHouse Media for her feature layouts.

Danielle Torricelli

Danielle works on magazines (Family, Senior Living, Healthy Living, etc.), some of the weekly news service pages and assists with newspaper redesigns.

She came to GateHouse after working as a designer at a community newspaper company in Chicago’s south suburbs.

Jason Dobbins

Jason designs feature pages and some magazines for GateHouse’s Niche division.

He joined GateHouse from the Tennessean in Nashville, where he was the lead designer for the Marketing Department's Custom Publications team. His role involved designing promotional print materials for the paper's many clients in various formats such as tabloids, magazines, digests and broadsheets. He also was a graphic/page designer at the Post-Tribune in Merrillville, Ind., and at The Tribune in Seymour, Ind. -- winning design awards at both.

Brad Dennison

Brad joined GateHouse in October 2006. Prior to that, he served as vice president of news for Birmingham, Ala.-based Community Newspaper Holdings Inc., owner of more than 90 daily newspapers. He previously held various editing positions at the Chicago Sun-Times, the Daily Southtown on Chicago’s South Side, The Augusta (Ga.) Chronicle, and earlier in his career served as a reporter, city editor and editor for various community
newspapers in the Midwest and Southeast. He has won numerous professional awards, including two national honors; he is a regular speaker at industry events; and he is a member of the Associated Press Managing Editors board of directors. Dennison also oversees GateHouse Media’s national sports media brand, Pro Football Weekly.

David Arkin

Director of newsroom development

David runs the company's newsroom incubator (redesigns) and training programs (including News Now) and all existing and new development projects for GateHouse newsrooms, in addition to operating GHNewsroom.com and handling special projects. He serves frequently on industry panels and is involved with various newspaper associations.

Arkin has served as the top editor of four daily newspapers, leading them all to general excellence awards. He's won a handful of state and regional awards for writing and design and community service awards for leading projects that improved the communities he’s lived in.

Tom Sudore

Tom oversees multimedia and video training and development for GateHouse newsrooms, in addition to working with field producers and editors to coordinate and oversee special projects and video reports for the GateHouse News Service video network.

He was managing editor at a newspaper group in Upstate New York before joining GateHouse. In that role, the newspaper group won several prestigious state and national awards for general excellence in print and online.

Joe Greco

Joe leads the newspaper redesign efforts of GateHouse publications and develops design style for print products offered to GateHouse newspapers and subscribers of GateHouse News Service. Joe also does on-site training for users of QuarkXPress, Adobe InDesign and Photoshop, in addition to writing a regular blog about newspaper design and the creative process at GHNewsroom.com.

Previously, Joe served as managing editor of visual for a group of GateHouse papers near Chicago; creative director of the Post-Tribune in Merrillville, Ind.; design director of The Times of Northwest Indiana, and a designer at The Detroit News. For his design work, Joe has won awards from the Society for News Design, Hoosier State Press Association, Illinois Press Association, Society for Professional Journalists and Indiana Associated Press Managing Editors.
